FAQ's
Q. How do I know you are a legitimate company?
The Ministry of Justice grants licences to companies operating within
the claims management industry. We must adhere to Ministry of Justice
regulations on advertising and the way we conduct our business.
Our registration is recorded on the Ministry of Justice website at
www.claimsregulation.gov.uk under registration
number CRM19960.
Q. I’m concerned about my personal data?
Edwards Knight treat the privacy and security of your information as
paramount importance, your personal data will only be used in
conjunction with your claim or to keep you up to date with our services.
Data is not given to any other 3rd party unless this is part of the
claims process i.e. solicitor working on your case.
Q. How much are your fees?
If you decide to pursue your claim, please refer to our COSTS page.
When a case is successful, our solicitors will recoup their costs direct
from the lender - so you benefit from a full 100% of any settlement!
Unlike some claims management companies who will charge you a success
fee based on a percentage of the amount cleared. This can sometimes be
as much as 30% of any amount cleared.
Q. Are there any additional costs?
There are no additional costs, once the initial application fee has been
paid.
Q. Can I keep using my card?
We advise our clients to stop using the credit card or credit facility
and to continue to make regular minimum payments.
Q. Will this affect my credit rating?
No – We strongly advise you to continue making your agreed payments to
your lender whilst your claims is investigated.
When the solicitors have received letters stating the credit agreement
is unenforceable and the lender has written the balance off you will be
able to stop paying at this point without recrimination.
Q. Will I have a large legal bill to pay?
No! You will have NO LEGAL BILL at all. If our solicitor is successful,
they will seek the costs from the lender. If they are not successful
then there are arrangements in place to ensure the costs are covered.
Q. Will I need to go to court?
The majority of lenders settle out of court, therefore it is unlikely
that you will ever need to attend a court hearing. In the unlikely event
that you do need to go to court then our solicitors will be able to
advise you every step of the way.
Q. Have I got any alternative route of redress?
Yes, you could seek assistance from organisations such as the Citizens
Advice Bureau, Advice UK, National Debtline, Consumer Credit Counselling
Services and other such organisations.
Q. How will you update me on the progress of my claim?
We have a unique electronic tracking system which allows us to monitor
the progress of your case on a daily basis. Therefore coupled with email
and the postal service you can have peace of mind that you will always
be aware of the status of your case.
